My name is Michaela McCormick and I love DECA.

 

I was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and currently, I reside in Kelso, Washington.  I am a proud Kelso High School Hilander and I have a passion for supporting my school in all of our events.  I love being in a crowd of people that is coming together to provide support for our classmates!  Coming from a family of six kids, I am used to working together with other people to reach a common goal.  My favorite color is pink.  I love running, listening to music, spending time with friends, and playing with my dog and two baby turtles. 

 

This is my second year in Washington DECA.  Throughout my membership, I have attended the WRLC and the Area 9 CDC twice, as well as SCDC and ICDC once.  At SCDC 2013, I competed in the Merit Awards Program.  I placed in the top sixteen and qualified to attend the Leadership Development Academy at ICDC. At SCDC this year, I will be competing in a Community Service Project and in the Financial Team Decision Making series.  I love participating in DECA competition.

 

My membership in DECA introduced me to my best friend, Julia Hiatt and my friendship with her has inspired me to run for State President; I believe that everyone should have friends and supporters that motivate and inspire the way that Julia does. The leadership style that I believe to work most effectively is building relationships and leading together, so that everyone has an opportunity to input ideas.
